New Portfolio section!

Just finished scanning and uploading some drawings and paintings as well as sorting out pictures already uploaded to the blog. I’ll be posting in the blog still very regularly, but also updating those sections as a quicker way to view anything I’ve been working on.

The menu above has all the links, so go check them out!

New store options!

Hello all, sorry for the long delay in posting!

I’m still sorting and processing old orders from my old Etsy store, and hope to have that finished and settled soon. For those waiting still, I thank you for your patience.

I have also set up a sort of store directly here on this blog. If you look up at the top, you should see a horizontal menu. If you mouse over ‘Skyrim Props’, there is a drop down menu with the props available for purchase. You can purchase, and view the cart, and it is all handled via PayPal! I’ll be making my props available in this manner from now on.

Cthulhu Vs. Hurricane Sandy.

Few may know, but I currently reside in Providence, Rhode Island, and am a quick ten minute walk from Howard Phillips Lovecfraft’s final resting place. It’s a wonderful place to be, and can definitely help get a feel for the work I base some of my pieces off of.

This past week, Hurricane Sandy hit New England very hard, and much of New Jersey and New York is still suffering. Thankfully, most of Rhode Island was spared, except for our coast line.

A friend and fellow artist, Jason McKittrick of Cryptocurium is a resident of New Jersey, and was hit like many very hardly in this storm. He and I communicate almost daily about pieces, and share ideas, and was saddened to hear Sandy had unfortunately hit his area very hard.

Cryptocurium also a showcases many Lovecraftian artifacts, and will also be doing a Halloween Sale, with an amazing new item!

Please visit his store, and help support a fellow artist, and friend!

‘Votive of the Dreaming One’, and more!

Just finished up two new Lovecraft pieces. I really loved working on the ‘Votive of the Deep One’, and decided to do some more, but wasn’t sure were to start. Based on some suggestions, I decided to do Cthulhu, and another Great Old One that is new to me, Chaugnar Faugn. After doing some reading, image searching, and sketching, I decided on what I wanted each to look like, and went to sculpting. They were done in about a day, and molded in about a day. Casted in the same manner as the first Votive, with bronze powder cold cast with black tinted Smooth-On 325 color matching resin.

‘Votive of the Dreaming One’, of Cthulhu.

‘Votive of the False One’, of Chaugnar Faugn.

Batman: Arkham City – Nightwing.

Yet another one of my personal projects that I’ve been working on while working on so many others.
This one is currently one of my favorites, and really hoping that I can get this one molded and cast and out to awaiting and loving cosplayers.

I loved the gritty and very realistic design work on Batman: Arkham City. While still firmly set in a fictional universe, I felt the strength of their designs made the costumes, items and some of the characters, very plausible. Well, except maybe Batman, look at those deltoids!

One favorite of mine, was Nightwing. He got a bit of an overhaul in the game, while still keeping very true to the characters current look. His face mask always caught my eye, so I thought I’d try my hand at making one. I’m still wanting to put this into a mold, but with so many different projects, I can’t feasibly fund it entirely myself just now.

‘Votive of the Deep One’, finished photos.

Finally finished molding and casting the ‘Votive of the Deep One’, seen in my previous post.

Overall I was pleased with the initial cast, but will tweak some things to get a better ‘aged bronze’ look to it.

I am wanting to develop a lot more projects and items like this in the future, but materials can be costly, and I try to keep my prices at a reasonable and affordable amount. Sale prices like this help get my name out, and also help me build up funds as well. Any help, is always appreciated.

‘Votive of the Deep One’

Started a new piece just a few days ago, and so far it’s coming out very well.

I’ve been racking my brain on attempting to figure out more Lovecraft/Cthulhu based pieces, from idols, other tablet artifacts, anything. Sometimes, being your own boss just sucks.
Mike Mignola of Hellboy fame is an inspiration of mine, and I love that his comic style isn’t the usual norm. Each page, heck, each PANEL seems to be a stand alone piece, and he often hides little vignettes of artifacts, statues, and other little treasures, in the background or right in a separate panel.

While browsing, I came across an image of ‘Abe Sapien’ with a curious little piece right in the middle.

I’ve been looking over my collection of Hellboy titles for inspiration, finding a little, but not enough. So that one just hit me.
So scrounging up supplies, doing my own doodles to decipher his work, I went and started a small piece.

It’s done in Super Sculpey Firm, and is 3 inches long by 2 inches wide. I plan on doing some texturing work next, and hope to have it molded and cast this weekend.
